Top 100 New Zealand Poker players according to “The Hendon Mob”

Posted on 05 August 2010

For those new to poker The Hendon Mob are a poker crew who’ve also carved out a niche for them selves as one of the key sources for poker rankings. Below is a list of The Hendon Mobs all time New Zealand money earners in major live tournaments.  It’s in US dollars and of course it does not include tournaments that many kiwis would consider major, Nationals, The Open, The Lee Nelson Deep stack. Our goal here at PokerNZ.com will be to update this but it is intersesting to see Jamil in number 2 ahead of Simon Watt. Two time NZ Champs winner Soren Erikson is of course missing, this does not mean that Auckland Dj Sam Hill {89th!} is a better poker player than him by any means! This list should also serve as a lesson for all the young upstarts who talk smack on Lee Nelson. That’s $3,061,697.20 in NZD hot pants!

  1. Richiebro says:

The above results do reflect the tournaments we consider to be major, like the Queens birthday Deepstack (Jackson Zhang’s results), Lee Nelson Deepstack (Angie Fitzgerald’s results) and certainly the Nationals. The reason Soren is not featured in New Zealands top 100 is because Soren is Danish and is therefore on the Danish top 100 list at number 71.

  2. Richiebro says:

So to put Soren in the mix would have him on $140,221 and place him at number 12 on the NZ list.

  3. Brooke Howard-Smith says:

I’m guessing Soren’s not on there because Nationals isn’t part of of the rankings. He’s been living in NZ for a while so it’s weird that he’s not on here? Is he really on the Danish list? Is Soren Erikson like John Smith is Denmark? Good to see you up there though Richie! If you add the money you’ve taken off me at the home game you’d be 3rd…

Here’s Soren, click his results and you will see his 2 nationals titles right there in the results. See the flag above his picture, thats the danish flag ;)
Haha I’m now semi retired thanks to your home game contributions ;)
Have you been playing under an alias hotpants?

  5. Brooke Howard-Smith says:

k, so nationals are included. but I’m pretty sure he’s a kiwi now. :) As Kiwi as Lee anyway…

  6. Richiebro says:

Yep have to agree with that

  7. DanSing says:

Dj Sam Hill better than Ivey IMO

  8. Jarv23 says:

Really? Never heard Ivey on the decks though…

  9. downtrou says:

An average winnings per year comparison/column would be interesting i.e. take a person’s first official cash year, take their accumulated winnings since, divide by the elapsed years.. bingo! e.g. first cash in 2008 and they’ve accumulated $150K since, then their average earnings to date would be $50K pa…? you get the drift…

Particularly interesting would be Lee, Putt, Simon, oh and of course, the DanSingQueen and Mr Hill ;)
