Martin Rowe wins AAPT
The 34 year old Financial Analyst from North Sydney had only been playing tournament poker for three years when he entered the tournament at his local pub.
He spent over two years playing at the pub and 6 months ago ventured to Star City where he could play for some real money.
“Three years ago a pub near me started up a normal league, and I started playing in that because I was interested in the game, and how the odds came together,” he said.
Row spent 6 days playing at Star City, beating 476 other players and becoming a millionaire within a week.
The final table had Rowe up against Melbourne professional player, Jason Gray, and the pair battled it out for 2 hours before Martin took the top spot. The final winning had was 2 pairs, Queens and Aces (pictured).
When asked about what he’ll do next, Martin referred to his wife who is expecting their second child and said “I think I might take a break from work.”
