ANZPT Sydney kicks off with a bang!

The PokerStars.net Australia New Zealand Poker Tour is back for 2012. Season 4 the first day of ANZPT Sydney at the newly renovated Star Casino began at 6.15pm. Day 1A saw 215 players take the field. This should see the firstANZPT event of 2012 push towards a million dollar prizepool. A great start to what is sure to be a fantastic season of poker. At the end of the day there are four players who lead the way with over 100,000 in chips. Toby Ryall is our chip leader with 138,500, clipping at his heals are Nabil Edgtton with 124,000, Gordon Huntly with 121,500 and Rhys Gould at 120,00
Other notable players who have made it through to Day 2 is last year’s champion Michael Kanaanlooking to repeat last year’s feat, he has 70,200. The reigning Aussie Millions champion Oliver Speidel has 70,900. Two time ANZ Player of Year winner Tony Hachem has 48,100. There were a number of Australia’s best who could not negotiate their way to the second day. We saw the likes of Grant Levy, Jonathan Karmalikis, Brendan Rubie, Aaron Benton and David Steike all head to the rail through the evening’s play.
